Danish soprano Sine Bundgaard made her professional debut in her native Denmark in 2003 at the Royal Danish Opera as Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto. Her international debut was as Zerbinettain Strauss' Ariadne auf Naxos at Opera municipal de Marseille in 2002. Her German debut at Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich was as Fiakermilli in Strauss' Arabella in 2006. 

In season 2019/20 she will make her debut in Zurich as Donna Elvira. At her homestage in Copenhagen she will make two role-debuts: Elettra in Idomeneo and Despina a very atypic role for her lyric-dramatic voice. In concert she will sing the title role in Handels Theodora at the Moscow Handel festival,  Respighi's Cinque Liriqueat Fuglsang chamber music festival, Messiah in Copenhagen Bach Christmas oratorio in Kristiansand.

In seasons past Sine made her house debut at Opera National de Paris, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich and Drottningholm Slottstheater in Stockholm, Marseille, Antwerpen, Nancy, Lausanne, Theatre de Champs-Elysee in Paris, Opera Comique in Paris, Teatro delle muse di Ancona, Holland Festival in Amsterdam, Innsbrucker Festwochen der alten Musik, the Handelfestival in Karlsruhe, and the Danish National Opera.

Sine has already successful collaborations with Alexander Vedernikov, Michael Schønwandt, Pier Giorgio Morandi, Gianandrea Noseda, Jeremie Rhorer, Michael Boder, Julien Salemkour, Carlo Rizzi, Ingo Metsmacher, Rene Jacobs, Phillippe Herreweghe, Kent Nagano, Bertrand de Billy, James Conlon, Pinchas Steinberg, Michael Schønwandt, Enrique Mazzola, Giancarlo Andretta, Matthias Pintscher, Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Andreas Spering, Christophe Rousset, Manfred honeck, Theodor Guschlbauer, Peter Schneider, Thomas Dausgaard, Thomas Søndergaard, Antoni Wit, Rolf Gupta, Alexander Shelley and Tobias Ringborg. 

Her baroque repertoire highlights include Angelica in Vivaldi’s Orlando Furioso, titlerole in Handels Theodora, Costanza in Handel's Riccardo Primo, Amelite in Rameau’s Zoroastre, Drusilla in Monterdi’s Orfeo, Cleonilla in Vivaldi's Ottone, Angelica in Haydn’s Orlando Paladino, Juno in The fairy queen… 

Her lyric dramatic highlight repertoire include Contessa, Donna Elvira, Elettra  ( Mozart) ,Desdemona (Verdi), Nannetta, Michaela, Eva (Meistersinger), Nedda (Paglacci), Liu, Manon Lescautdie Marschallin, Arabella, Ariadne (Ariadne auf Naxos), die Gräfin(Capriccio),Lulu, Jenny in Weill’s Mahagonny... 

Recent contemporary roles include Silvia di Avila in Thomas Ades' The exterminating angel The Cheshire cat in Unsuk Chin’ s Alice in Wonderland and soprano 2 in Wolfgang Rihm’s highly acclaimed Dionysos.

She is much in demand as an oratorio soloist, recently in Brahms requiem, Bach's H-minor mass, Verdi's Requiem, Dvorak’s requiem, Dvorak’s Stabat mater, Handel's Messiah and Mozarts Requiem. 

In concert she sang Mahler’s 4th symphony in Birmingham with the CBSO and Manfred Honeck, Carmina Burana in Sala Sao Paulo with OSESP, Brahms Requiem with Orchestre des Champs Elysees and Philippe Herreweghe, Carl Nielsen’s 3rd symphony with Stockholm Symphony orchestra and Tobias Ringborg, Lakme in Queen Elizabeth Hall, London with COG, Songs by Strauss and Grieg in Dvorak Hall, Prague with the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Thomas Dausgaard, Berg’s Sieben fruhe Liederwith Arhus Symphony Orchestra and Giancarlo Andretta and Messiah with Marcus Creed and the Danish National Orchestra. 


Sine dedicates much time to the Lied-repertoire. In 2016 she created a recital-program with songs to the lyrics of danish poet J.P. Jacobsen set into music by a whole string of composers, mentioning Carl Nielsen, Zemlinsky, Deliusjust to name a few. 

She was featured on 3 recordings released in 2014/15: Castiglioni’s Salmo XIXwith the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Gianandrea Noseda , the Danish composer John Frandsen's Requiemwith the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra from 2013 (world premiere), and Verdi’ Requiemin a live-recording form 2012 with Per Enevold on Classico.
