This season, in addition to Don José in Germany , the French tenor Olivier Trommenschlager will return to Avignon Opera house and the Royal Theatre of Versailles for Monostatos with Hervé Niquet as a musical director. Afterwards, he will return to the Opera House of Tours as Juan in Don Quixote de Massenet.

Born in Mulhouse in a family of musicians, Olivier Trommenschlager began his musical studies with the Trombone. During his engineer studies, he met with Jean Luc Ballestara and decided to study singing. He started in Mulhouse before joining the Cnipal in Marseille. He had the opportunity to attend  diverse master classes such as the ones of Thierry Dran, Alain Fondary, Guy Lacairy, Jean-Luc Ballestra, Stéphani D'Oustrac,  Elizabeth Vidal, André Cognet, Fabio Armiliato , Jean Pierre Furlan…Olivier is currently working under the lead of Lionel Sarazin in Bordeaux.



 From  2012 he was rapidly casted for Messagero (Aida), Abdallo (Nabucco), Gastone (Traviata), Goro (Madame Butterfly), Eisentein (Fledermaus), Bobeche (Bluebeard). He then had the opportunity to sing his first Monostatos (Zauberflöte) . 

In 2015 he made his house debut in Amsterdam Opera as  Lacouf (Les Mamelles de Tirésias ), as well as the Musikverein in Vienna, for a concert with Cristina Pasaroiu and Jaume Arragal singing extracts of Die Walküre. That same year, he made his debut as Don José in the Saigon Opera House and  as the title role of Verdi's Stiffelio in Munich.


He has participated to several summer festival productions in France of  Mireille as Vincent , La Traviata as Alfredo and Werther  .


In 2018, he won the Grand Prix at the Emma Calvé International Competition chaired by Michèle Command.
